Meet the Candidates
Charlotte, Mel, and Brittney first came together thanks to a Golf Manor Council meeting (and Juneteenth!), so it makes sense that they're now working together on their campaigns to help build a Golf Manor for everyone. Representing different histories with Golf Manor and experiences in the world, they all share in common the commitment to listen, learn, and then most importantly act.

Charlotte BruewerCharlotte Bruewer (she/her) moved to Golf Manor in 2009, realizing her dream of home ownership in a unique, affordable village community. Over the years she has witnessed Golf Manor's renaissance as a vibrant, family-friendly neighborhood that is sought out intentionally. It is that intentionality that she would like to see become a cornerstone of Golf Manor's governance and engagement with residents. Charlotte completed her Bachelor of Business Administration: Finance degree from the University of Cincinnati, attending as a non-traditional student while working full time. After nearly two decades in the financial world, she chose to return to Cincinnati and pivot to the non-profit sector; currently Charlotte is back at UC in the Office of Research as a grant administrator. She frequently reminds her friends that "one of my great joys is compliance!", even when she's just bringing people together for game nights and community dinners at her house. (Her wife wants you to know that this is in fact a real quote.) Married in 2021, Charlotte credits her stepson for inspiring her to see the gifts and needs of the Village through new perspectives; she is committed to using her position on Council to bring these missed perspectives, voices, and capacities to power in Golf Manor. "I am running because our current Council does not represent the makeup of the Village, and I am here to provide representation as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I also strongly believe in the building of community, particularly for the kids in the neighborhood." She also knows that creating a better place for children and youth will lead to better results for ALL of Golf Manor, through stronger health and safety outcomes, improved property values, and more connected residents. Charlotte sees a lot of opportunities for the Village to come together and serve as many people as possible. She knows this is not a fast process, and she is committed to doing the continual work of listening, learning, acting, and checking in not just during Council meetings but in every facet of her life in Golf Manor. When she isn't helping her stepson prepare and present a proposal to GM's Parks & Recreation committee, Charlotte can be found relaxing with her 2 dogs and 3 cats, completing DIY projects around the house, or doing puzzles with her wife. |
Melody N. MayleMelody N. Mayle (she/her) moved to Golf Manor in 1988. She attended Losantiville Elementary School, graduated from Walnut Hills High School, and earned her BS in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from The Ohio State University. Immediately after earning her degree, she moved to Huntsville, AL and worked at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center for ten years as an experiment aerodynamicist. Mel returned back to Golf Manor in 2018. She recently earned an MS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and is currently earning her PhD. After earning her PhD, Mel intends to start a non-profit organization helping students from under-resourced communities strengthen their mathematical foundations by introducing them to scientific computing and applying programming techniques. Since returning home, Mel has connected with members of Village Council and community organizers. She helped plan the Food Truck Friday events in 2020, a small Pride picnic in 2021, and Juneteenth celebrations in 2022 & 2023. Mel occasionally attends Council meetings, serves on the Parks sub-committee, and supports WeThrive efforts. "After watching Council argue over spending $1000 for a Juneteenth celebration in a predominantly Black neighborhood, I realized it was time we have a local government that better represents our community. Given the connections I've developed with Council and neighbors after planning several events, I think serving my community in an official capacity is the next logical step. Over the years, several people have encouraged me to be on Council and more recently, other people have demanded it. Jokingly, I wasn't given much choice in this decision." If elected, Melody will use her problem-solving skills that she acquired as an engineer. She will be mindful of the needs of everyone in Golf Manor. She intends to ask questions and propose solutions that hopefully benefit most of us. |
Brittney KreimerBrittney (she/her) moved to Golf Manor because she wanted to live in a community diverse in race, religion, sexual orientation, and more. Golf Manor felt like a diverse community, and the community has provided nothing but a sense of belonging and community. Professionally, Brittney has spent over 15 years working with local social justice nonprofits, disrupting how organizations approach operations, human resources, culture, and finance. She focuses on the people and values of the organization and lets that drive the need for policies and processes. Her passion for people and advocacy is inspired by her Papa (grandfather), who encouraged her early on to stay engaged in what's happening in the community and to those around her and to speak up when something is wrong. This is what drove Brittney to run for Village Council. After seeing a recording of a council meeting, discussing funding for the community's Juneteenth event, and hearing racist remarks made by current Councilmember Danny Kneipp, Brittney was compelled to gather with other community members and speak to the council the following month. Brittney then decided it was time to do more than just speak out at council, it was time to run for one of the open seats. On council, Brittney will bring knowledge in human resources, operations, leadership development, finance, and project management. Brittney has spoken on panels on confronting anti-Black racism in organizations, policies, and human resources, and looks forward to bringing that lens to Village Council. Brittney received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, magna cum laude, from Thomas More University and an Associate of Arts in Communication from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. Brittney also earned a Project Management Certificate from Xavier University. Brittney spends much of her free time with her nibblings. She also enjoys curating diverse books for her little library for adults and kids, located in the 6200 block of Elbrook Ave. You may also find Brittney walking her dog or a foster dog around the neighborhood. Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC) has endorsed Brittney Kreimer for Golf Manor Village Council ahead of the November 7 general election. |
